Karolin has a beautiful smile and each day that smile is becoming brighter.

Karolin came to live at the orphanage at age 4 with her two older brothers. She arrived very quiet and shy. Karolin is living, learning, and growing in the loving environment of the orphanage located on a farm in rural Honduras. She likes the color green. In her free time she likes to swim and watch tv. When she is older she would like to be a teacher.

When Bridgewater Candle Company launched our Light a Candle • Feed a Child™ program in June 2010, six orphaned children from across the globe were featured on a keepsake bookmark included with our Special Edition Candle. For every Special Edition Candle purchase, Bridgewater makes a donation to feed an orphaned child for one week. Peaceful was one of the first six children whose story was highlighted in 2010. Below is her story as printed on the bookmark.

Meet Peaceful

Courageous. Strong. Positive.

That is a snapshot of Peaceful’s life today. Five years ago, her life was very different. She and her siblings, Promise and Christopher, found themselves in a desperate situation. After losing their parents to HIV/AIDS, Peaceful as the eldest had to take responsibility for her family. They felt “unloved”.  Meeting basic needs, including buying food, was a daily struggle. The three children were fortunate to be embraced into a loving orphanage in South Africa.

Today, all three are hope personified as they have succeeded against the odds. Peaceful is in her final year of tertiary study towards an Honors degree in Social Work. Promise is blossoming in the Tourism industry and Christopher attends a prestigious private High School.

The siblings are courageous, strong and positive – fueled by the love of their new family.

Now Peaceful is all grown up. Having received a degree in social work, she is working with orphaned children in South Africa, many of whom lost their parents to Aids. In this video, Peaceful gives a tour of the children’s home in that made such a difference in her life.

Tickled Pink was inspired by a snapshot of a little girl dancing barefoot in a tutu and giggling in a splash of bubbles. This photo, used on our packaging, has touched the hearts of Bridgewater fans. But it's the fruity floral fragrance that is already making this candle a best-seller. This fruity floral fragrance is highlighted with the sweetest of berries and touched with a sparkle of green. The pink trend remains popular  for its femininity.

Frilly pink and green tu tus provided plenty of grins and girl-bonding for the little girls at the orphanage in Honduras. The tu tus were a gift from  Bridgewater employees who traveled to the orphanage last October. Carefree afternoons spent giggling and chasing bubbles inspired our new fragrance Tickled Pink. Tickled Pink combines the sweetness of linden blossoms with a splash of pink berries.

The orphanage is on a farm where the children help with chores such as milking the cows and feeding the animals. We couldn’t resist a photo with these beautiful ballerinas on the tractor.

Knowing that every jar candle sold helps feed an orphaned child made all of us grin too!
